Reflections on Shabat! The 26th May 2023

The necessity of the Holy Spirit in our salvation

Without being born of water and the Holy Spirit, we cannot see the Kingdom of Heaven, nor can we enter it. This can be found in the study I prepared last Shabbat. I will now only briefly refer to the conversation between Nicodemus and Adonai Yeshua, from which the aforementioned necessity for salvation was revealed. Verses John 3:3-8

What is the sign of the gift of the Holy Spirit?

- At the beginning of the 20th century, this question occupied the minds of many Christians thirsting for the power of the Holy Spirit in the USA, India and other parts of the world. They saw in the teachings of the Bible a promise that Elohim must pour out His Holy Spirit in the last days on all flesh, that is, on all mankind.

- I use the English KJV (King James version) and the CJB (Complete Jewish Bible) as sources for thinking about the Sabbath text. (Read Joel 3:1-5 and Acts 2:17) According to the last mentioned verse, we are still living in the "last days" according to the Bible's timeline, so that promise is still valid. In order to receive salvation, it is absolutely essential to partake of the gift of the Holy Spirit!

- That's why they (in USA, India etc.) also started to study the Bible more than before, to see if there is any clear sign of receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit? They made a surprising discovery that had been missing for almost 1900 years! I believe that Adonai Yeshua helped them to find it because they were sincere and devoted Christians who sought the Truth through prayers and fasting.

The promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit

- When we read in the Acts of the Apostles all the cases in which the gift of the Holy Spirit was given, we notice the following order of progression:

a) The necessity of repentance was announced to people, i.e. they had to repent of their sinful life and confess their sins. Please, read Acts 2:36-39.

- You will notice from verses 36 and 37 that it is about what the sinner himself must do in order to be acceptable for baptism by immersion in water and to be saved.

- You can find the answer to that in verses 38-39, but unfortunately, almost all English Bible translations use Greek-derived names for our Savior, as if he was Greek! That's why I copy the verses in question below and correct those proper names to the original ones, because Peter spoke to the Israelites in the verses and used Hebrew as his colloquial language.

>>
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Adonai, our Elohim shall call.<<

- It's no wonder that worldwide so many have been led astray from the original Salvation message to the sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church, including infant baptism 'in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit'. As you can see from the previous verses and three other passages from the Acts of the Apostles, according to that teaching, no one was baptized 'in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit'!

- You will also notice from verse 38 that repentance is a condition for believers' baptism by immersion in water. Therefore infant baptism is a heresy, because how could it be established that such a little one has really repented? Repentance is always a personal thing that no one can do for you. Likewise, water baptism is personal and chosen by the baptized person himself.

- Is a newborn baby a sinner? Yes, because original sin dwells in him, because he was begotten in sin and was born into a fallen human race. After all, Tanakh and NT say: "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of Elohim."
- The Tanakh expresses it this way: Ps. 51:5
>>Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.<<
- This was the case with King David and the same is the case with all of Adam's descendants, except for Adonai Yeshua, who was begotten by the Holy Spirit without the fallen man begetting him.
- The NT expresses it this way: Rom. 3:23
>>For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of Elohim;<<

- The point also appears from verse 38 that when one is baptized specifically in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach, the promise of the Holy Spirit is given as a result. That promise has not been made about proceeding in another way! For this reason, many who have received 'Spirit Baptism' and 'the fullness of the Spirit' in other ways are in error and the spirit of the Devil masquerading as an 'angel of light' can influence them. Devil knows how to act gentle and lovable.

- Furthermore, from the verse Acts 2:41 makes it clear that only those people who received the Salvation message were baptized by immersion in water. It therefore required an understanding of the content of the proclaimed message, and that's also why the new born babies couldn't come into question!

What was the sign of the Holy Spirit?

- It was the gift of speaking with new tongues and I will justify it in the following.

- Now we read the passages in chronological order, which mention what happened when the recipient of the Salvation Message was filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time, i.e. when he received the gift of the Holy Spirit:

a) First concerning the apostles Shavu'ot, those who had each already repented and had already undergone the baptism of believers by immersion in water. Acts 2:2-4

>>2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.<<

- We notice from the following verses that the apostles spoke to those present, who had come from Europe at that time, in their own mother tongue. It is clear that the apostles themselves did not understand the content of the message *), which the Holy Spirit proclaimed through their mouths, because most of the apostles were ordinary Israelites who had not attended a language school.
*) As an exception, those who received the gift of the interpretation of tongues at the same time.

- More precisely said, this was about prophesying in a foreign language, because the spiritual gift of speaking new tongues requires someone to explain its content as well. This is evident from the following verses in 1 Cor. 14:2

>>For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto Elohim: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the Spirit he speaketh mysteries.<<

See also points d) and e) below.

- - -

- Side note: The reader may wonder why in the verses Acts 2:38-39 and the following verses do not mention the gift of speaking in a foreign language? It is because foreign tongues are a sign only to those who do not believe, but in that case and in the verses Acts 2:2-4 was about those who believed and knew the Holy Scriptures well. Read verse 1 Cor. 14:22.

>>Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.<<

- - -

b) From verses Acts 8:14-21 shows that the witch Simon saw that those who had already been baptized in water by immersion in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach were given the Holy Spirit only when the apostles laid their hands on them. The question arises, how did Simon see that it happened? Most charismatic Bible students have come to the conclusion that they began to speak with the new tongues and prophesy. This is also confirmed by points d) and e) below.

c) In verses Acts 8:26-40 we meet Philip, who was proclaiming the message of salvation to the mighty eunuch of the Ethiopian queen Candace. As a condition for immersion baptism, it is mentioned that the eunuch had to first believe in his heart that Yeshua HaMashiach is the Son of Elohim. He also confessed his faith orally and was baptized. In this context, it is only mentioned that the courtier continued his journey rejoicing. Yet it is consistent that he also spoke with the new tongues. It is also referred to in points d) and e) below.

d) Verses Acts 10:44-48. As Peter announced the salvation message to the centurion Cornelius, the Holy Spirit came upon all who were listening. We read those verses.

>>44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit, 46 for they heard them speak with the new tongues, and magnify Elohim. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Spirit as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. <<

- Here is the first point and a clear description of what happened when the pagan Romans were filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time. They spoke with the new tongues and praised Elohim.

- It is very interesting that in verse 47 Peter also says that the Israelites received the Holy Spirit in the same way as these Gentiles! So it was a sign of the gift of the Holy Spirit for the Israelites and the Gentiles that they spoke with the new tongues and praised Elohim!

- That incident was therefore a bit disobedient, because first the outpouring of the Holy Spirit took place and only after that those who received that gift were immediately baptized by immersion in water in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach. The reason was that Peter did not believe until then that the gift of the Holy Spirit was also meant for the Gentiles chosen for salvation! The correct order can be found in the teaching of our Savior Adonai Yeshua: Mark 16:16

>>
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.<<

- Even if Elohim sometimes decides to deviate from the normal order of time, it cannot be made a normal and general practice based on that!

e) In verses Acts 19:1-6 we find Paul in Ephesus proclaiming the message of salvation to the disciples. The connection does not reveal whether they were of Gentile or Israeli origin. I assume they were Israelites because according to verse 3 they had previously been baptized with John's baptism, i.e. the baptism of repentance by immersion in water. We read those verses.

>>1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Spirit since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Spirit. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

4
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on HaMashiach Yeshua. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of Adonai Yeshua. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.<<

- If you have not yet received the gift of the Holy Spirit in this way, that new tongues or prophesying a foreign language and praising Elohim has followed the event immediately, then it is obvious that you have not yet received the gift of the Holy Spirit at all! You have only experienced some wonderful touches of the Holy Spirit within you, but He has not yet personally come into you!

- Everyone who has truly received the gift of the Holy Spirit knows that they have received Him. He doesn't have to ask anyone if he has experienced it, because when the Holy Spirit enters a person's heart, it happens just like a bright light turns on in a dark room of the heart and it feels as if the supernatural love of Yehowah takes him into its embrace and he becomes intoxicated and experiences ecstasy, because of the love of Yehowah Elohim!

- In the opinion of those who despise speaking a foreign language, the only hallmark of believers in Yeshua and Christians is that they love each other. It is certainly most important sign, but it usually follows only at a later stage, when the Yeshua believer and Christian are allowed to grow in grace and in knowing his Savior.

- In my thesis, I focused on what kind of signs appeared in the exact context and at the moment when it is mentioned in the NT that one who first came believer and then received the Holy Spirit.

- I myself received the gift of speaking a foreign language on the evening of August 31, 1972 at 9 pm, when I was filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time. Before that I had been able to experience great and wonderful touches of the Holy Spirit and supernatural guidance. I had also made a real repentance and after that had been baptized by immersion in water. I also received two other grace gifts at the same time and later a fourth one. All those gifts of grace are spiritual tools for spreading the message of salvation and for the spiritual building of believers.

- I noticed while working at the Jesus House in Helsinki's Vartiokylä that everyone there spoke with the new tongues when they were filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time, but that gift did not remain permanent for everyone. So it was a sign of receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. It still remained a lasting gift for almost everyone, as for me too. The reason for that was that the person who speaks the new tongues builds himself up. We believers of Yeshua and Christians must first ourselves be built up internally in order to build up others! It is essential for preaching the Good News in streets!

- - -

- I was greatly impressed by the book "They speak Other Tongues" written together by John and Elisabeth Sherrill around 1970-80.

- It's about an Episcopalian priest who went to the baptism of believers and received the gift of speaking a new tongues. He guided his parishioners in the same way and brought about the fact that many received that gift in the same way! The church leadership didn't like it, and moved the man to a smaller place in the USA.

- The fire of the Holy Spirit was also lit there! The church leadership moved the priest again and again to other locations. As a result, the fire of the Holy Spirit spread over the course of about 20 years to finally dozens of different churches, where that "throwaway bag" priest was allowed to serve his beloved Savior. He kept the anointing of the Holy Spirit by using the gift of speaking with the new tongues, diligently praying daily for long periods of time.

- Here are the instructions for applying for the book:
https://www.amazon.com/They-Speak-Other-Tongues-Sherrill/dp/0800793595

- That's why the gift of speaking a foreign language is very decisive for the birth and spread of genuine revival! Paul was a perfect example of this. He said he spoke with the new tongues more than anyone else!

Briefly about the gifts of the Holy Spirit

We can find more about the Holy Spirit's gifts of grace in e.g. chapters 1 Cor. 12-14. Speaking a foreign language is one of the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit, 9 of which are listed in 1 Cor. 12:8-10. Various graces are also mentioned in the NT, such as helping, controlling and bearing the fruit of the Spirit.

- Those 9 gifts of grace are characterized by the fact that they work soberly and constructively if the person who uses them is overwhelmed by the love of Yehowah, filled with the Holy Spirit and works obediently under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, when the timing and the target are right.

- Other gifts of grace are the eternal inheritance of the saints in the city of heaven, i.e. the New Jerusalem, but we will only be allowed to move there in the future.

- It is a very great gift of grace that we receive a glorified body after passing from time to eternity. It is clothed with the white linen of the righteous, shining with light. It is eternal and immortal, with perfect senses of spirit without limitation. Then we will see our beloved Heavenly Father Yehowah Elohim and our Savior Yeshua and the Holy Spirit face to face! What a wonderful day!

- Of the gifts of grace given by HaMashiach Yeshua and the Holy Spirit together with Yehowah Elohim, the greatest is eternal life in Yeshua HaMashiach, Adonai! Without this gift of grace, no other gift of grace would have any eternal value for us. We read Rom. 6:22-23

>>22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to Elohim, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of Elohim is eternal life through Yeshua HaMashiach our Adonai. <<

Reflections on Shabat! The 19th May 2023

This Shabat, our topic is to consider what kind of security of salvation the Bible promises and under what conditions?

The Bible promises certainty of salvation

As an introduction, we read a passage from the night conversation between Adonai Yeshua and Nicodemus.
John 3:1-8

>>1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Yeshua by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from Elohim: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except Elohim be with him.

3 Yeshua answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of Elohim. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5 Yeshua answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of Elohim. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
<<

We notice from that conversation that anyone who wants to get to heaven must absolutely be born again, by the power of the Holy Spirit!

What does it mean to be born again?

We read the promise in this next teaching of the apostle John, John 1:12-13. He taught receiving Adonai Yeshua through faith in the heart.

>>
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become children of Elohim, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of Elohim. <<

In what name should we believe? At the angel's command Joseph to give our Savior the name Yeshua, because he will save his people from their sins. Matt. 1:21. The name Yeshua is Hebrew and means 'Salvation'.

It is therefore consistent to use for our Savior the special name assigned to him by an angel from heaven, and not the translation names. Likewise, it is consistent to also use his Hebrew title name 'HaMashiach', which means the Anointed one.

So we should believe in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach, then the promise according to that verse is valid for us to have the power to become a child of Elohim.

How are faith and baptism related to salvation?

We first read Adonai Yeshua's teaching according to Mark 16:16
>>He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.<<

Some teach that faith alone is enough and baptism is not necessary. That is not what is written in the verse and the apostle Peter taught as Adonai Yeshua commanded him. We read verses Apt. 2:38-39 (In them I use the original names of our Savior that I explained earlier)

>>
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as Adonai our Elohim shall call.<<

It is baptism by immersion in water and it is performed after the person who wants to be baptized has first repented in his/her life. Baptism is performed for the forgiveness of sins. Only after that is the promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit valid.

P.S. That teaching excludes infant baptism and baptism 'in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit', because they are not in accordance with the teachings of Adonai Yeshua and his apostles (see e.g. Peter's teaching), but a wrong interpretation and textual falsification in the Bible!

After receiving the Holy Spirit as shown below, the promise of the power to become a child of Elohim, mentioned earlier in the NT, has come true for you! (John 1:12-13)

Being filled with the Holy Spirit

According to true apostolic immersion baptism, there is a promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit to the baptized. He, the Holy Spirit, does not automatically come to the baptized, but the baptized must sanctify himself, pray and patiently wait for the fulfillment of that promise.

Our examples of this are the apostles, who waited for the fulfillment of the promise they received for 10 days (from Ascension Day to Pentecost) in the upper hall, praying and praising Adonai Yeshua. Only after that the following happened: (Acts 2:1-4)

>>1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

After that happens, you will be equipped to carry out the great commandment of proclaiming the heavenly gospel. You get to take the world's greatest glad tidings of Adonai Yeshua's victory at Calvary, his resurrection and omnipotence, and his coming back to collect his own in the glory of heaven!

Walking in faith is a constant race and we are called to race together with other believers in Adonai Yeshua as follows: (Acts 2:42)

>>
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.<<

When you compete and are faithful until death, you will be gifted with a crown of eternal life. Its level depends on how obedient you have been and how many sinners you have managed to lead to salvation, to the Savior.

Because of that, some of us get a gorgeous crown with gorgeous and multiple jewels, but some only get the small crown pictured on the bottom right, with no jewels. If you are not satisfied with just that, then be diligent in evangelizing!

More promises of eternal security of salvation

- John 6:37 (A promise given by Adonai Yeshua)
>>All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him/her that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.<<

- John 5:24
(A promise given by Adonai Yeshua)
>>
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He/she that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.<<

- John 14:21, 23b (The promises given by Adonai Yeshua)
>>
He/she that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he/she it is that loveth me: and he/she that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him/her, and will manifest myself to him/her.<<
>>..."
If someone loves me, he/she will keep my words: and my Father will love him/her, and we will come unto him/her, and make our abode with him/her.<<

- 1. John 5:13 (Teaching of the Apostle John)
>>
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of Elohim; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of Elohim.<< (That name is Yeshua HaMashiach, so it is a question of knowing, and no longer just a matter of faith.)

- Rome 10:9-11 (Teaching of the Apostle Paul, with reference to Tanakh)
>>
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Adonai Yeshua, and shalt believe in thine heart that Elohim hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Tanakh saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.<<

Reflections on Shabat! The 12 May 2023

Who then can be saved?

This Shabat, we will reflect on a question the disciples asked Adonai Yeshua, which is still relevant today, as well as the answer given to it:
Mark. 10:23-27

>>23 And Yeshua looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the Kingdom of Elohim! 24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Yeshua answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the Kingdom of Elohim! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of Elohim.

26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved? 27 And Yeshua looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with Elohim: for with Elohim all things are possible. <<

In this case, it was a rich young man who asked what he should do to have eternal life? Mark. 10:17-22

The young man had followed all the commandments that Adonai Yeshua listed, but then he asked the very important question: "What do I still lack?" Adonai Yeshua's answer to that young man was overwhelming: Mark. 10:21

>>Then Yeshua beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.<<

The rich youth was saddened by that speech and went away sorrowful, for he had much property.

The same has happened and still happens to many others, especially in rich Western countries. The biggest reason is that they don't understand that earthly riches are perishable and that heavenly riches last forever! You learn to understand that only when you read the Bible carefully and believe what it says. If you doubt its message, Adonai Yeshua urged us to test it as follows: John 7:15-17

>>15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? 16 Yeshua answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. 17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of Elohim, or whether I speak of myself.<<

As you can see, there is a promise in verse 17 about how we will know that the message of salvation proclaimed by Adonai Yeshua is from the Creator. Since Yeshua referred to the Holy Scriptures of the OT in several places, they also originate from Creator, excluding the translation and copying errors that have occurred somewhat over time.

I know that verse (John 7:17) is true, because I have practically tested it and come to know that it really works even today, as the English CJB and KJV use the words 'shall know' or 'will know' . CJB = Complete Jewish Bible / KJV = King James Version

How many will be saved in the end?

In addition to the previous one, Adonai Yeshua gave the following two answers to this question:

1.) Matt. 7:13-14
>>13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.<<

That is, only a few people in all of humanity find the narrow gate and the strait road that leads to life! Finding them requires looking until you find them!

2.) Luke 13:23-27
>>23 Then said one unto him, Adonai, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Adonai, Adonai, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.<<

The verses show that salvation requires a constant struggle of faith, which means giving up all kinds of sinful life and practicing righteousness during the search period! Practicing righteousness is acts of charity.

By what basic principle is a person saved?

In this context, I will only briefly explain the basics of salvation and discuss the topic more extensively in next week's Sabbath Study.

A.) Adonai Yeshua said:
(Mark 16:16) >>He who believes and is baptized (by immersion in water) will be saved; but whoever does not believe will be condemned to destruction.<<

B.) Apostle Peter taught the following about salvation at the command of Adonai Yeshua:
(Acts 2:38-39) >>38 Then Peter said to them: "Repent and let each of you be baptized (by immersion in water) in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." 39 For the promise is to you and to your children and to all who are far off, to all whom Yehowah our Elohim calls.<<

Only the winners inherit eternal life!

Chapters 2-3 of the Book of Revelation contain our heavenly Father's mission letters to the seven (7) congregations of the New Covenant in the ancient Middle East. Each congregation is characterized by the same exhortation at the end of the letters: "He who overcomes, (gets to inherit)...". Furthermore, the Congregation of Smyrna was told: "Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life!" Rev. 2:10

So only the winners and the faithful get to inherit the heavenly share! Nowadays, most congregations proclaim a very spacious gate and a wide road to salvation, but such a message deceives listeners who do not know the Bible well enough!

There will still be a huge number of saved!

I can comfort you with the Bible's revelation that you don't have to move to heaven almost alone or in a small group, but that the saved will eventually be such a huge crowd that it cannot be counted. We will be saved from all nations, tribes, families and languages. People have been saved from all generations up to now and they will be saved from many generations to come!

Reflections on Shabat! The 5th May 2023

Next, we look at the land of Canaan promised to Israel with the help of three historical maps:

Picture No. 1: Peoples who previously inhabited the land promised to the Israelites. The Bible specifically mentions the seven nations of the land of Canaan as follows:

Deut. 7:1-2

>>1 When Yehowah thy Elohim shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

2 And when Yehowah thy Elohim shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: 3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.<<

Picture No. 2: This is how the promised land was divided between the tribes of Israel during the time of Moses and Joshua.

Picture No. 3: The borders of Israel during the time of King Solomon in comparison to Israel's borders in 1999 (and 2023, although they are still being disputed).

Who was Canaan?

After the flood, Noah's three sons and their wives inherited the present-day nations (excluding the later destroyed/destroyed nations). Noah's three sons were Shem, Ham and Japheth. Here are the descendants of Ham: Genesis 10:6
>>And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan..<<

Who were the Canaanites originally?

The first mention of them can be found in the verses: Genesis 10:15-18
>>
15 And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth, 16 And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, 17 And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, 18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.<<

Why were they judged so cruelly?

(See text under Picture No. 1)

The reason is this: Yehowah, who has created the people (Adam and Eve) and the nations formed from their descendants (after the flood) on earth, requires the nations to follow the moral laws established by Him, which are written in the Bible and also in the heart of every person.

Every nation that lived in the area of the ancient land of Canaan had completely rejected those moral laws and surrendered to serving idols, i.e. the 'Prince of this world: the Devil' and his fallen angels, demons, possessed spirits and other unclean spirit beings. As a result, they had strayed into unnatural carnal desires and even burned their children as sacrifices to their hideous idols!

What was characteristic of them?

I think the following list of sins listed in the NT fits them well: Gal. 5:19-21
>>19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of Elohim.<<

In my opinion, the following sins were also characteristic of them: 1 Cor. 6:9-11
>>9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of Elohim? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the Kingdom of Elohim. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of Adonai Yeshua, and by the Spirit of our Elohim.<<

Those spirits of darkness are still in the world!

The seven (7) ungodly nations of the land of Canaan mentioned at the beginning of the Study were led by the spiritual powers of darkness that had 'become in a manner of flesh' in the people of those nations who had surrendered and agreed to commit those horrible sins.

The same ungodly acts also occur today all over the world, among all nations. The perpetrators of those acts are on their way to perdition, that is, to hell!

May such spiritual powers not get any place in our lives through our acquaintances, friends, close relatives, relatives, students or colleagues, but let's separate from them, unless they receive the message of salvation that we proclaim in the Spirit of wisdom and love after two testimonies!

We, those of Adonai Yeshua, have been called and obliged to warn those who are currently living wickedly and to urge them to repent in their lives and accept the gift of salvation by believing in the message of salvation from Adonai Yeshua!

Let's shun all kinds of sins that can separate us from the living Elohim and Let's warn those who still walk in darkness and sin in the Spirit of wisdom and love!
