Reflections on Shabat, 19th April 2024

Our current world is still very beautiful in many places, even though our Creator cursed it as a result of the fall of our ancestors. Humans have destroyed and polluted the Earth's soil, seas, waterways and atmosphere at an accelerating rate.

It is true that YHWH Elohim said in ancient times to the people of Israel: >>But if you make me an altar of stone, do not build it of hewn stone; for if you touch the stone with your chisel, you will defile it.<< Exodus 20:25

People pollute and damage nature more than they preserve and protect it, even though it is their task to cultivate and protect it.

The paradise of Eden is a very beautiful place!

We get a faint glimpse of it when we look at today's few, still unspoiled, naturally beautiful places in the world. It was an abode of love, joy, and peace, where there was no fear, disease, famine, thirst, violence, poverty, loneliness, or any other of the miseries that today's world is full of.

New Jerusalem is even better than paradise!

It was already created for humans before the foundation of the world, but it can only be inherited by those of us who our Creator finds worthy of it after many trials and tests. I refer to this in the verses in the attached picture in 2 Peter 3:10-12. It is unfortunate that nowadays one hears such a message of salvation being preached that as long as one only believes in Adonai, even if one does not obey Him, one will surely be saved!

However, our Savior Yeshua HaMashiach taught otherwise: Matt. 7:21 >>Not everyone who says to me then, 'Adonai, Adonai!', will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my heavenly Father.<<

What is the will of our Heavenly Father?

That mention of Adonai Yeshua begs the question, "What is the will of his heavenly Father?" We find a condensed and rich answer in Adonai Yeshua's answer to the Israelite who asked, "Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Matt. 22:36

Adonai Yeshua answered him: Matt. 22:37-40. >>37 So Yeshua said to him: "'Love Yehowah your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind'. 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 The second, similar to this, is: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.<<

Many Christians today argue against it, saying that they are not called to keep the Law of Moses. They are not called to follow the entire Law of Moses, except in those parts that Adonai Yeshua referred to above in the verses: Matt. 22:37-40.

Since we are members of the New Covenant, the following teaching of Adonai Yeshua especially applies to us: John 17:3 >>But this is eternal life, that they know you, who alone are the true Elohim, and him whom you have sent, Yeshua HaMashiach. <<

Do we really know YHWH Elohim and Yeshua?

The apostle John gave the following signs of knowing them:

>>
1 John 2:24-29
24 As for you, what you have heard from the beginning must remain in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25 Now this is the promise that he himself made to us: eternal life. 26 These things I have written to you about those who are trying to deceive you.

27 Now as for you, the anointing that you received from him resides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things, it is true and is not a lie. Just as it has taught you, you reside in him.

28 And now, little children, remain in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink away from him in shame when he comes back. 29 If you know that he is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness has been fathered by him.

1 John 3:9
Everyone who has been fathered by Elohim does not practice sin, because Elohim's seed resides in him, and thus he is not able to sin, because he has been fathered by Elohim.

1 John 4:7
Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from Elohim, and everyone who loves has been fathered by Elohim and knows Elohim.

1 John 5:1
Everyone who believes that Yeshua is HaMashiach has been fathered by Elohim, and everyone who loves the father loves the child fathered by him.

1 John 5:3-4
3 For this is the love of Elohim: that we keep his commandments. And his commandments do not weigh us down, 4 because everyone who has been fathered by Elohim conquers the world. This is the conquering power that has conquered the world: our faith.

1 John 5:18
We know that everyone fathered by Elohim does not sin, but Elohim protects the one he has fathered, and the evil one cannot touch him or her.
<<

As the reader will notice, the emphasis is on sanctification, and through that on knowing our heavenly Father and his Son, and on loving all our neighbors!
